I host a play-date on Thursday afternoons, and I try to attend a yoga class on Thursday nights.
Not to mention that all the stuff I've been putting off doing all week seems to come to a head on Thursday evenings, and I have no time to write a post for the next day - Friday.
Plus, let's just be honest; on Thursdays, I'm pretty much brain-dead from the week of mommy-ing and training and generally trying not to suck at life.
So, blog posts on Fridays? Yeah, it wasn't happening.
And it was fine. I was really OK with it.
But something still kept bugging me.
The thing is, a lot of times, I want to share little things with you all - links I've read, books I'm into, things I'm cooking. Kind of like Pinterest, but with a little more intention. It's not about simply what I like, but about what I've actually tried and what I've thought about it.
I gain so much insight, advice, laughs, and great ideas from other bloggers that, though my advice is not always worth much, sometimes I think someone may like what I'm reading, cooking, or picking up off the play-room floor for the 500th time that week.
Plus, it's a way I can link back to some amazing blog posts I'm reading.
So on Fridays, I'm going to try a round-up of what's on my radar that week.
Articles I loved. Dinners I've made. Things I've watched.
Because I like to share. So let's try it out. Maybe it will work. Maybe it won't.
But I like the idea, so let's give it a shot.

I'm still not sure if I want to delve into the whole firestorm that is currently going on in the news about mothers breast-feeding in public. Thanks to a "nurse-in" staged at Target stores nationwide last week, breast-feeding moms made the major news networks, and there was plenty of op-ed to follow, many of which came down hard on mothers who choose to breast-feed in restaurants, stores, etc. While this is nothing new for those of us who do nurse in places other than our homes and public restrooms (Eww!), it was quite the brouhaha on message boards and YouTube. I read hurtful things, and lots of moms were incensed on both sides of the fence.
And then, I read this. This little piece of satire on NIP (nursing in public.)
And I about peed my pants laughing so hard that I had to read it again.
It was, hands down, one of the best things I've read all week.
It makes me wish we approached all conflict with satire. It's just that good.

I made these for dinner, and they rocked my world.I find normal stuffed peppers bland, but these were not. They had - dare I say it? - a flavorful kick to them akin to Mexican cuisine.
Tasty.

My mama got me this book for Christmas. I finally got a chance to read it to Ella before bed-time last night. And, holy cow, did I bawl. It was the ugly cry from about two pages in.
What a beautiful, amazing, perfect book from a parent to a child.
It's safe to say this book belongs on every child's bookshelf. So mothers everywhere can do the ugly cry right along with me.

Awhile back, Meredith recommended I listen to the song Kristine's Lullaby when I was putting together a mix of songs for Ella.Well, it's become our new favorite song around here.
Especially if you have a daughter, I recommend giving it a spin.
I'm humming it right now and have been since I nursed Ella to sleep an hour ago.
It perfectly describes how I feel about raising a daughter in today's world.

Speaking of Pinterest, I bit the bullet and joined. (I know, I know. I'm the classic late adopter.)But now, I am insanely addicted. I want to pin everything and anything and craft myself into oblivion after seeing all the amazing projects people point out on there.
I can't tell you how much sleep I've already lost this week pinning things. It's so bad I'd almost encourage you not to feed into my habit.
But I'm an addict, and I'm still willing to be enabled. So I want to know if you're on Pinterest, too. You can find me here.

This PSA had me in tears yesterday. It brings me back to my days of working in health communication. It's so well done and so true and, well, watch it yourself. It's genius.

That's it on my end. What's on your radar this week?***
Happy Friday, everyone!

I heard about people being upset about women nursing in public before, and I always thought it was ridiculous, but now that I nurse in public, I have a whole other set of emotions. It makes me so.angry! For the first few weeks I was really nervous/anxious about nursing in public, but once I did it, it's no big deal. I think often times people don't know what I'm doing (well, until my baby barfs all over... Thanks reflux...). I have no idea what I would do if someone asked me to leave! And, for what it's worth, before all this controversy, I had to nurse at Target and chose to use a fitting room just because it was right before Christmas and crazy busy and there was no where else to sit down at. But, I have no hesitations to sit down and nurse my baby wherever we are whenever he's hungry. People are CRRRRRRR-AAAAAA-ZZZZZEEEEE! :)
Also, that video is super moving. I've had probably 3 or 4 really nasty sunburns before, and Jon's had 1, and we both had lots of freckles and skin tags, so I'm super paranoid about one (or both!) of us getting skin cancer. I'm going to be obsessive about our kids using sunscreen.
My kiddos also received that book for Christmas and I was ugly crying as well. So sweet and so true.
I nurse in public. I try to as cover as possible and not flash the world but hey shit happens. If people don't like it they can go somewhere else.
As for the Psa....bawling. Definitely gonna be on top of sunscreen with my kiddos. Thanks for sharing. 16 yr old me was working at a tanning salon. Wish this was out then.
Totally saved that article because I know I will truly appreciate it one day (those people are nuts-o). I also LOVE that you posted that PSA. My first blog of the new year was all about protecting yourself. SO IMPORTANT!!
I like hearing what's on your radar. Those stuffed peppers look uhmazing!! I might just have to try them out myself :)
Love this radar post! I'm always excited to hear what other people have going on or are interested in. Great idea :)
I feel the same way about Kristine's Lullaby--it is just perfect for mamas of little girls. I'm so glad you like it!
I didn't watch the PSA--too soon for me--but I imagine it is really awesome too!
Love this Friday run down idea! :)
Can't wait to hear more from you. And I want to try those stuffed peppers, sound delish.
Brittany you have to warn pregnant ladies before you post things like that! I thought you were in tears because it was funny. Very well done. I'm posting on my FB page. I have several risk factors myself and my dad did have melanoma so it is a good reminder.
