I returned home yesterday to find another sweet little package on my doorstep, filled to the brim with scented waxes, a wax lamp, and various other wonderful little Scentsy paraphernalia.
I returned home to find this sweet little package was from you, my friend
The only problem is, I don't know who you are.
There is a billing statement, charged to one person - "L.P."
A person, it has to be said, I've never met in real life.
Now, seeing as I have some wonderful kindred spirits out here in the World Wide Web - many whom, indeed, I've never met in real life, either - it seemed reasonable to assume the gift came from one of them. So I started e-mailing, texting, and Tweeting those that I could, trying to find out if any of them was - well - you, my anonymous gift-giving friend.
Except they weren't.
Not a one of them.
Although one such friend said she debated taking credit for it, since you and her share a first name, and, apparently, I'd never be the wiser. Still, honesty won out on her part, and she instead encouraged me to pen this very tome you're now reading. (Thanks, Lucy Marie! )
So thanks to the good conscience of my blogging peers, your identity, L.P., still remained cloaked - a real live mystery to behold.
Therefore, I returned to square one. Otherwise known as good, old-fashioned Google.
Yes, I Googled you, L.P. (Although, it has to be said, I did Google your full name, in an effort to narrow my search, of course. I'm nothing if not a budding private investigator.)
And according to my trusty friend Google, you, L.P., are an independent Scentsy consultant - a job title I immediately wanted after reading it because it just has that kind of ring to it.
But after shaking off the fact that I'm probably not cut out to sell delicious-smelling candles and the like - seeing as how my penchant for cooking with garlic makes my house highly noxious - I returned to the task at hand.
In other words, figuring out who you, L.P. - Independent Scentsy Consultant and Woman At-Large - were.
Still, seeing as how I don't know any actual independent Scentsy consultants, I really only managed to confuse myself some more.
Because, as is the case with all good mysteries, more questions started to arise:
How did you, my anonymous gift-giving friend, find my address? And how did you know that I adored all things pomegranate-scented? And how did you know how much such a gift would touch my heart, seeing as I'm alone with my thoughts most of the time, as my husband is away being all military-esque?
How, L.P., how?
I was even more confused than when I started.
So let's recap, shall we?
After an afternoon of what can only be called "Internet private-eye-ing," all I knew was a) my anonymous, gift-giving friend L.P. has blessed me with an abundance of good-smelling treats, and b) I have no idea where to send the thank-you card.
So, L.P., whomever you are, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate your giving spirit and your humble nature. You gave me a wonderful, anonymous gift - something totally unexpected and incredibly useful. All in my favorite color combination and scent styles. It's like you know me or something.
Which I'm guessing you must. (Or, rather, I'm hoping you must. Because otherwise, I fear I may have some sort of scent-intuitive stalker.)
So, reveal yourself, dear friend. Please.
So I can thank you in person. And light my wax lamp guilt-free, knowing who it was that sent scents to me. (Get it? Sent scents? Come on! Ya gotta let me have one!)
So until we meet again (or for the very first time, perhaps...)
Your pomegranate-loving, not-so-anonymous friend,

Wow...those are some really great gifts you got...and don't worry, you would soon know who the sender is....but isn't that such a sweet gesture! Hats of LP :)
Oh that's so sweet! Perplexing but sweet!
hmm....wonder who sent you that package?
that is SO weird, VERY cool and kind of creepy all at the same time...
I second Katie's comment....
Wow - yeah I kind of agree with Katie. Hopefully you'll find out who gave you the gift!

I know who it is!!!
And don't worry, it's not a creepy stalker! =)

Yay for fun gifts! I LOVE Scentsy. Hopefully you will solve the mystery soon! And I am loving your private eyeing skills! Lol... You will be the first one I call when I need to track someone down. :)
yay for free stuff!!
..when you find out who she is, can you give her my address too? i'd love some smell good gifts ;)
Dear Brittany, I'm so sorry that you spent so much time futilely searching for "LP" so now, out of guilt for causing you such angst........
I recently won Melissa's Scentsy giveaway (she was my accomplice) and I thought this might be just the thing to cheer you up a little. I felt so awful for you being separated from your dear hubby and hoped it would bring a smile to your day. I'm so happy you like it!
Sending big bloggie love from a non-creepy source!
=D
What a wonderful uplifting act of kindness! Hope you find your anonymous scent sender! :)
PS I wanted to keep the anonymity going but felt really bad that you might be creeped out.
=)
that is so sweet! I have always wanted to try Scentsy!
I just popped over here and after reading all of these comments about how lovely everyone thought this gift was I was going to retract my denial and tell you that it actually WAS me who sent you the gift - then all of these lovely blog ladies would think I was so sweet and kind and generous! But then I see that the true gift giver has been revealed. What a sweet, and thoughtful sentiment Karen Lana!
That is so sweet and thoughtful for someone to send you such sweet gifts......wonder who it is! Have a great day!
How sweet!
A little scary that they know your address and favorite scent but nice none the less.
Oh wow! That is truly a wonderful surprise! I hope you get to the bottom of it!
What a nice surprise! Hope you figure out who L.P. is soon!
Nothing beats random presents from the internet. Three cheers for Karen!
I'm really, really good at internet stalking if you need any help. Like really good, it's kind of a talent.
On the other hand what an awesome surprise!!
What a sweet gesture! I love that you're getting little surprises during this stinky separation.
What a very NICE surprise!!
Wow, how exciting! That's such a wonderful thing for someone to do! You'll have to let us know how it all smells! :-) Hmm never thought I'd utter those words... haha
I like the idea of sending something anonymously and not expecting something back and have done it myself. Several months ago I sent an anonymous gift (a set of affirmation cards) to a relative who is going through a sad divorce. I wanted her to feel like her guardian angel was looking over her, especially since I was talking to her almost every day on the phone and giving her love and support that way(the site was www.yoursecretgift.com). I think this is a fun thing to do for someone.
Hello Brittany & Friends! Our mutual friend, sent me an email regarding this post. It took me a day or 2 to actually read it and I can't stop smiling!!!! Congratulations on being Lindsey Palmer's (aka L.P. & a ScentSational Consultant from Salt Lake City, UT) Scentsy WINNER! I was so touched by the winner's willingness to send you the gift. She will be receiving such a gift from my secret idenity to show her and everyone that kindness is everywhere and everywhere needed. I do hope you enjoy your products and just to clear the 'creepy-stalker' ora, I honestly didn't know you liked Pomegrante! I just picked my top sellers and crossed my fingers! Enjoy...and know this entire experience has inspired me to send random Scentsy gifts across the US! WHOO HOO! ~L.P.
